  • The One New Year's Resolution Everyone Should Make

While many of us use the New Year as a way to launch new habits for health and physical fitness, the one resolution every one of us should make is to take charge of our financial fitness.

With the holidays behind us, those bills come rolling in and so does the stress.  Every year most of us are faced with the same, not so fortunate position of owing money.  Unless paid for in cash, regardless of how much or how little you spent, once it was charged, it is now your debt.  It's time for some financial management 'boot camp'.

The federal Home Affordable Refinance Program, known as HARP has been expanded to help an estimated one million homeowners who are currently in the predicament of owing more than their home is worth due to the collapse of the housing bubble.

  • Disconnect From Pricey Cable Costs

In the early days of television, access to channels relied on you having an antenna adn television- no subscription necessary.  That is no longer the case, as pricey cable and satellite services have taken over our television screens.  As wages remain stagnant and cost of living goes up, many families are deciding to cut the cord from these high priced television subscriptions and accessing the programming they want through more wallet-friendly means.

  • Money Saving Gas Tips

    1. Don't speed- speeding is a costly habit.  Gas mileage rapidly reduces when driving over 60 mph.

    2. Be trip efficient- running many errands in one trip may allow you to drive fewer miles.  Several different trips can use twice as much gas especially when taken from a cold start.

    3. Less is more- the more weight in yoru care causes a drop in fuel efficiency.  Also, avoid carrying items on the roof of your vehicle as it hinders its aerodynamics and can cut mileage up to 5%.
